Also known as liquid diet, soup diets comprise ingredients that enhance dieter’s metabolism and boost rapid weight loss. A majority of these soup diet varieties last a week – with cabbage soup, sacred heart soup, vegetable soup, and chicken soup diets being the common varieties.
Cabbage soups are the popular of the lot, with claims of dieters losing 10 pounds a week. The soup is concocted from cabbage, green peppers, green onions, celery, carrots, mushrooms, canned tomatoes, bouillon, mushrooms, soup mix and vegetable juice. When on this seven-day plan soup diet, dieters are advised to consume at least three liters of water every day and administer multivitamins. There is no restriction on soup quantity, provided they restrict their food intake to just the soup and water. Weight loss is the obvious benefit of this diet. The negative is usually the bland taste of the soup, and some individuals also reporting body weakness.
The sacred heart soup is also similar to cabbage soups in terms of diet period and benefits. This soup is a blended mixture of green onions, canned tomatoes, beef broth, celery, soup mix, green peppers, green beans and carrots. Some other food items that could be consumed in conjunction with the soup include vegetables, fruit, milk, brown rice, beef, and fruit juice. However, these can be consumed only on particular days and with specific restrictions in place. Some may prefer vegetable or chicken soups for the taste and also for their rich vitamin and nutrient content.
